The outcomes of the 6th International Conference “The Holocaust Museums in XXI Century: Challenges and Opportunities”

The 6th International Conference “The Holocaust Museums in XXI Century: Challenges and Opportunities” is over.  It took place on May 21-22, 2019 in Riga, at the Conference hall of Park Inn by Radisson Riga Valdemara hotel.

We are pleased to inform you that experts from 13 countries (Australia, Belarus, Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Israel, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Poland, Russia, Ukraine and the United States) shared their knowledge, experience and developments in the field of preserving the memory of the Holocaust. Simultaneous translation in Russian, Latvian and English was provided.  On the second day, there was organized an online translation of the Conference which had 200 views.

The Conference was attended by ambassadors and representatives of Canada, Germany, Spain, Russia, Turkey, Poland, Ukraine and the Slovak Republic.

The Conference brought together the professionals who work to preserve the historical memory and they discussed the challenges they have to face in their work and possible answers. The participants were engaged in the discussions during the Conference and shared their contacts during breaks. The conference was interesting and useful for historians, sociologists, culture experts, museum employees, teachers, artists, students of humanities and other visitors.

The conference was supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Latvian Republic, the Department of Education, Culture and Sport of Riga City Council, the Goethe Institute, and the Baltic American Freedom Foundation (BAFF).
